Technical Support Representative

Microquest is an Edmonton-based software development company and we’re looking for a full-time Technical Support Representative to join our team.  Our customers are really happy and we need someone to help keep them that way.

As a Technical Support Representative, you’ll join a dedicated team of specialists, providing support to our clients by trouble-shooting problems over the phone and by remote connection. You’ll also enjoy a health benefits plan for you and your family and relaxed atmosphere that come part and parcel with working for Microquest.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two or more years of Help Desk experience in a Windows technical environment. Health care IT is a major plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and phone skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Experience documenting the problem and resolution with ticket creation software
  • Amazing problem solving abilities
  • A good sense of humor with a large knowledge of pop culture
  • Patience! No, really. This is tech support we’re talking about!

IDEAL REQUIREMENTS

You want more requirements?  That’s cool, we like keeners. If you meet all of these then we’ll probably hire you!

  • Post-Secondary education in an IT related discipline
  • Some sort of SQL (or at least you know what it stands for)
  • Windows Server experience, ranging from Windows 2000 to Server 2016. Maybe even Windows Server 2019 if you’re right on the ball!
  • Experience with Serena TeamTrack/Business Manager
  • Networking experience. Can you name all 7 levels of the OSI model? I can’t!

Junior Software Developer

Microquest Inc. is an Edmonton-based software development company specializing in solving problems for the healthcare community. The flagship product known as Healthquest has grown over the company’s 25 year history to be used by thousands of Albertans today.

We’re searching for a special someone to join our team as a junior software developer. You’ll learn the ropes from senior developers and staff, work on our main product, and contribute to creating an outstanding experience for our customers. Soon enough, you’ll be a positive force driving the development team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily scrums and monthly sprints to get bugs fixed and features released to our users.
  • Liaison with the Quality Assurance team, and assure them that it works on your machine so it must be something wrong on their end.
  • Take part in the always exciting Change Review Board meeting, where you get a say into what features will and will not make it into future releases. This is a bribable position.
  • Create some incredibly architectured applications. You understand n-tier development and why it’s important to decouple your data from your presentation layer.
  • Eeking out every possible bit of performance you can from the code. It’s never optimized enough.
  • Joke around with the rest of the team about whatever ridiculous thing occurred recently, including but not limited to: YouTube videos, pop culture references from 1970+, Comicon and/or Cosplay-related activities and the always present kitty memes.

Qualifications

  • BSc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical degree
  • Familiarity with Version Control System (VCS) concepts (e.g. Git)
  • Experience writing SQL queries for relational databases

Nice-To-Haves

  • Experience with web application development
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile Development practices
  • Experience with React, Node, Powerbuilder or .Net
